Sending Your Artwork For Display Printing & Sign Making

Instructions on sending your artwork to Garside Signs and Displays.

We work in a vector format for most of our projects. We can work with files created in vector drawing programs able to export an "eps" file.
The programs that work or can export to a vector format (.eps or .ai files) include:

  • Corel
  • Freehand
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe InDesign

Any raster formats such as .gif,. tiff, .bmp or .tiff will require us to recreate your artwork so it is in "vector" format. This could take hours depending on how complex your artwork is.

Make sure all fonts used are converted to outlines before sending us your file. This way we don't need to have the font that you used in your artwork.

What is "Vector" format? What is "Raster" format? See Below for more info.

To send us your artwork, you can use our "order" form. If you have any questions regarding file formats or sending your artwork to us just give us a call.

  • What is vector format?
Vector graphics are images that are completely described using mathematical definitions. Each individual line is made up of either a vast collection of points with lines interconnecting all of them or just a few control points. Vector drawings are usually pretty small files because they only contain data about control points. Vector drawings can usually be scaled without any loss in quality. This makes them ideal for company logo's, maps or other objects that have to be resized frequently. CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs generate image files in vector format ( for example DXF, DWG, DWF ).
  • What is raster format?
Another name for raster format is "Bitmap". Bitmap images are exactly what their name implies: a collection of bits that form an image. The image consists of a matrix of individual dots (or pixels), each with its own color, which is defined using bits, the smallest unit of information on a computer. Most image-painting programs generate files in raster format (for example BMP, JPG, PNG).
